Jonatan Baez & Kayla Broom

Kayla took her first tango steps at age 10, Jonatan at age 16, and neither have looked back since. With a combined 45 years in the world of tango (25 years teaching) the two have never stopped striving to expand their dance. They are now working together in Charlotte, NC to share their passion for this beautiful craft through classes, events, and performances. 

Kayla began her Argentine tango studies in 2005. While simultaneously training in other genres such as ballet, jazz, and various Latin dances, she quickly found her passion within tango. Throughout her career, Kayla has had the pleasure of teaching and performing in many different milongas, festivals, and concerts along the East Coast with various outstanding partners. Some of these events include Latino Americano Festival of Charlotte, Spoleto Tango Festival, Pittsburgh Tango Marathon, Columbia Tango Marathon, XV Gala 2022, What A Wonderful World with Ensemble Eclectica, and many more. In sharing her passion, Kayla encourages adaptive, sensitive, mindful techniques to be used within the embrace and on the social floor.

Jonatan has been dancing Argentine tango since 1996, and has danced Argentine folklore since he was eight years old. He also performed with the National Folklore Ballet of Argentina. He was the recipient of many prestigious dance awards, and winner of various regional and national competitions in tango and folklore. work in such tango shows, as the famous Café Tortoni, Añoranzas Tango, the legendary “Sabor a Tango”, "Tanguera", "Che Tango", and others, they perform at the most prestigious milongas (Salon Canning, Porteño y Bailarin, El Beso, Gricel, Sunderland, La Nacional, Confitería Ideal, La Baldosa, etc.) and also with different orchestras: Color Tango, Los Reyes del Tango, Sans Sousi, Bajofondo, Sexteto Milonguero, Romantica Milonguera and many others.

Kayla Maree and Jonatan Baez currently offer weekly group classes in Charlotte on Wednesdays, starting at 7:00pm. They are also available for private lessons/semi-private lessons in Argentine Tango and Argentine Folklore dance. Contact for more info is listed below!
