Jason Plus the MLC

Jason Hackner is a versatile and award-winning vocalist who can sing pop, r+b, jazz, and musical theater. He is the lead singer of Jason plus the MLC, a professional classic jazz group based in Charlotte, NC. He has also performed with Spectrum, One Mean Sun, and Tosco Music Party. He won Chicago Idol and Vortex Chicago Grand Champion contests and received a Jeff Award/After Dark Award for his role in HELLO AGAIN at Bailiwick Theater. He graduated from the University of Michigan’s musical theater program and has starred in many shows such as ASSASSINS, PIPPIN, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, and TITANIC: THE MUSICAL. Jason is originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and has lived and performed in Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, and Charlotte. He also teaches vocal lessons to aspiring singers.

The MLC was founded in 2011 by Mark Larson, a pianist, and accordionist who plays jazz standards, Latin tunes, Americana songs, and original compositions. The group features talented musicians on string bass, jazz guitar, saxophone, fiddle, and percussion. They have played at breweries, festivals, clubs, and large venues throughout the South.
