Daniel Arredondo & Kasia Fryzel

Born in San Rafael, Mendoza, Argentina, Daniel may be credited with bringing authentic Argentine tango to Charlotte, NC, in the year 2000.

His tango and his teaching of the art form is enriched by his background in martial arts, modern dance, folkloric dance, and competitive ballroom dance. In addition, his childhood memories of watching Argentinean tangueros inform his dancing to this day.

Over the years, Daniel has studied with several world-renowned tango dancers including Facundo and Kely Posadas, Pablo Veron, Fabian Salas, Gustavo Naveira, Gloria and Eduardo Arquimbau, Osvaldo Zotto, Lorena Ermocida, Susana Miller, Marcela Duran, Jorge Firpo, Gachi FernándezAlicia Pons, Oscar Casas, Ana Miguel, Carlitos Espinoza, Horacio Arcidiacono, Alberto Paz, Valorie Hart, Rene Torres, Junko Mori, among others.

Daniel has collaborated in multiple opportunities with the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center Education Institute of Charlotte, the Levine Museum of the New South, the Mint Museum, and the Arts and Science Council of Charlotte. He has performed in many national tango events including the Argentine Embassy in Washington DC, Atlanta Tango Exchange, Charlotte Latin Fest, Fiesta del Pueblo in Raleigh, Spoleto Tango Festival in Charleston, Asheville Regional, Fiesta Latina in Asheville, Charlotte French Festival.

Over the past several years Daniel has taught workshops in many cities including Charlotte, NC; Atlanta, GA; Raleigh, NC; Virginia Beach, VA; Columbia, SC; and Asheville, NC. In collaboration with Madeleine Hackney, PhD, Daniel has co-taught Parkinson’s and Adapted Tango, a continuous education class in the NC Area Health Education Center. He has also DJ’ed in major tango events across the nation.

Daniel hosted an ongoing Monday night class and practica for almost 20 years, Charlotte's longest-running tango event, offering weekly classes for dancers of all levels.

Meanwhile, he teaches private lessons, and is the founder of Passion For Tango; an organization dedicated to teaching authentic Argentine Tango.
